KUCUKSU KASRI (Kucuksu Pavilion)

Kucuksu Kasrı is also known as the Goksu Kasrı. It is located in Istanbul in Kucuksu area. It is near the point that the Goksu Stream falls in to the Istanbul Strait. The Pavilion was built in 1856 by Nkogos Balyan with the command of Sultan Abdulmecid. It has a rectangular shape and the long edge is parallel to the sea. It is comprised of two floors which are constructed on a lower part which is 3 m from the ground. The side facing the sea of the Kucuksu Kasrı is divided into three vertical parts; the part in the middle is flat, and the left and right sides are convex. The stairs reaches the door of the middle part is in shape of a horseshoe, has two hand-rails and made out of marble. Between the hand-rails of the horseshoe there is a decorative pool with jet. Entrance is behind a hole carried by four columns. On the ground level there are two balconies from head to end on both sides.
