The
Isakcı Castle was built on the right side of the River Tuna because of the strategic
importance of the region. During the Ottoman-Russian War and the Ottoman-Austrian War it
was lost and recaptured several times. In the period of Sul tan Selim
III, the castle was captured by Russia, but it was taken back by the Ottomans with the Yas
Treaty. However, it was lost with Edirne Treaty again. |
