BURSA YESILCAMI  (The Green Mosque)
.

The mosque, which had been started to be built in the time of Celebi Mehmed in 1413, and completed in the times of Sultan Murad II in 1424, is one of the important constructions in the first ages of Ottoman Architecture.

Its plan is in the shape of a reversed “T” and its interior is divided into eight parts. The niche(mihrab) is located on the kible (direction of Mecca) antechamber and it opens to the main aisle. The balcony (ayvan) of Kible is risen by four steps. In middle of the main aisle there is a fountain (sadırvan) and there is a lantern on it. On the upper part, Sultan’s private gallery (mahfil) and the royal galleries are located. In the low part the galleries of the palace officers are placed. In fact the mosque is famous for its beautiful tiles.
