| He was born in Soloz in 1667. He entered the palace by the help of Sirke Osman Pasha. He completed his education in the place. He was interested in magic and mysticism. He was a well regarded official and appointed as the secret messenger between Sultan Mustafa II and his grand vizier. Sultan Ahmed III succeeded Mustafa and he promoted Ali pasha with higher ranks. He was sent to Cyprus as the second vizier. He had had killed or exiled many important statesmen by using his influence in the palace. In 1713, he became the grand vizier. He tried to reconcile the relations between Russia and restore the peace. Silahdar Ali Pasha gained power both internally and externally. He declared war against Venice in order to hinder the harms that Karlofca Agreement had brought (1714). He captured the castles in Mora, some islands in the Aegean, Suda and Spirna Longa Castle in Kyrete. In the next year, an agreement was signed between Austria and Venice. In spring he went on war with Austria too. The Ottoman army lost the war and Silahdar Ali Pasha had been shot from his head on 5th August 1716 and died on the way to Karlofca. | ||
