He was a famous sailor. He was the Minister of the Sea for 14 years during the Sultanate of Suleyman I and he won many significant victories. He grew up in the palace and left the palace as the commander of the palace guardians.

He captured Sakiz and Cerbe Islands and invaded Algeria. He captured 67 small Islands, in the Spanish, Italian and French shores. He damaged the navy of Spanish King Philip II and slaved his famous commanders.

After was married to Gevher Sultan, the daughter of Selim II and he raised to 3^rd vizier rank and later he became the 2^nd vizier. He fought arm to arm with Turgut Reis during the invasion of Malta. As Turgut Reis had been shot in this war, he returned back. Later, he was sent to conquer Cyprus.
