Ozdemiroglu Osman Pasha was born in Cairo, in 1527. His mother was from the dynasty of Egyptian Abbasid Caliphate, and his father was from the Egypt Caucasian Mamelukes. Osman Pasha had many different governmental duties. He joined to the Ottoman-Iran war. He damaged and plundered Karabag, Mugan, and Kizilagac (the northern Azerbaycan) with the help of Khan Mehmed Giray of Crimea. He asked to go further to Mehmed Giray but he refused and returned to Crimea. Sirvan was occupied by Iran. With the Mesala War he recaptured Sirvan. When he returned to Istanbul and became a member of Divan with vizier rank and in 1582, he was appointed as the Grand Vizier. In 1585, he replaced Commander of Iran Ferhad Pasha. In the war in Alivar, he defeated Iranian prince Hamza Mirza and took Tabriz under Ottoman control. Osman Pasha had fallen ill while the Ottoman-Iranian war was continuing and died in Senbi Gazan near Tebriz in,1585. He was buried in Diyarbakır. |
