Mustafa Pasha was born in Merzifon, in 1634. His
father’s close friend Koprulu Mehmed Pasha had taken care of him. He had his education
in a Moslem Theological School. He was educated with Islamic culture and he improved his
skills very fast. He married to the daughter of Koprulu Mehmed Pasha. He represented Fazil
Ahmed Pasha in the council as he went to very long campaigns. After the death of Fazil
Ahmed Pasha in 1676, he became the grand vizier, at the age of 41. He dedicated his life
to bring back the victorious days of the Ottoman Empire as in the time of Sultan Suleyman
the Lawgiver. He joined to the Ottoman-Russia War with the sultan. The Siege of Vienna
which Mustafa Pasha had started untimely, was ended with the defeat of the Ottoman Army.
He paid this failure with his life as he was executed. His head was brought to Istanbul
and his body was buried in Belgrade. He had had built many monuments in Istanbul. His
family had raised many important statesmen after him. |
