MUSTAFA KEMAL (ATATURK)

He was the leader of the Independence War and the founder of the Republic of Turkey. He was the creator of civilised Turkey. He was a great soldier and a statesman whose genius was accepted internationally. He proved his genius after the Canakkale Victory, in 1915. After the occupation of Turkey he went to Samsun, in 1919 and started a nation-wide defence. His target was to establish an independent Turkey. He organised the Congresses in Erzurum and Sivas. He opened the Turkish National Assembly in Ankara, on 23rd April 1920. He declared the Republic of Turkey on 29th October 1923. He was elected the first President of the Republic. He made reforms on judicial issues, politics, and social life. He started the economical development act that was based on a state control policy. He abrogated the Caliphate. The convents and places of recluses were closed. The Latin alphabet was accepted. The Straits and Hatay problems were solved by Montreux Agreement. CHP’s (Republican People Party) first Extraordinary Assembly gave Ataturk the title of “Chief Forever” on 26th December 1938 after his death.
