Lazar the King of Serbia was born in Pirilepac, in 1329. He became the king by force in 1372 by benefiting from the chaos occurred from the throne struggles. He marched through Hungary and extended his territories. In his first years King Lazar had accepted to pay tax to the Ottoman Empire, but, as he gained power he refused to pay the amount he promised. The Ottoman Army marched through him and invaded Nis, in 1375. King Lazar requested peace and accepted to give 1000 silver libres per a year. King Lazar provoked the Karamanoglu State to rebel against the Ottoman Empire and made an agreement with the King of Bosnia and defeated the Ottoman Army in Plosnik. He died in the battle field in Kosova, in 1389. |
