He was the leader of Celali Revolt that had been occurred in the 17th century. He was born in Yassiviran village in Ankara. First, he rebelled against the government with his 89 followers. Although he had been forgiven, he rebelled again, in 1604. He had beaten the Governor of Anatolia. He destroyed Manisa and its province. Kuyucu Murad Pasha appointed him as the governor of Ankara. Kalenderoglu Mehmed attacked and robbed the caravans on his way to Ankara. Consequently, city habitants had resisted against his entrance to Ankara. Then, he besieged the city and went to Bursa. In Bursa, Kara Sait and Piri had joined his band and with his extended forces he had defeated the army sent against him. Meanwhile, Grand Vizier Kuyucu Murad Pasha was in Aleppo and he      attacked to the forces of Kalenderoglu. In the battle fought in the Goksun Plain Kalenderoglu was defeated and he escaped to Iran.
