He was born in Istanbul in 1635. Sultan Mehmed IV
appointed him as his grand vizier and for 15 years, he continued his duty. He was very
well educated. After he became the grand vizier, he went to war against Austria. He forced
Austria for peace and went to conquer Girit that had not been taken for 21 years. By
taking Kandiye Castle, he added Girit to Ottoman Lands. After that, he declared war
against Poland. He invaded Podolia and signed Bucas Agreement. He returned to the country.
The empire had gained power under his administrations.
He died in Edirne, in 1676. He was preparing for a campaign. He was
buried near his father Koprulu Mehmed Pasha’s tomb in Cemberlitas, in Istanbul. |
