Konstantin’s father was Manuel II, and mother was Helene Dragas. His elder brother was Ioanness VII. In 1443, he became the Despot of Mystria. After the death of Ioanness IV, he ascended the throne of the Byzantium Empire. He defended Istanbul bravely against Sultan Mehmed The Conqueror. The last Byzantium Emperor Konstantin died while he was fighting on the ramparts of Istanbul (29^th May 1453).
