He was the nephew of Kavala Huseyin Agha and son of
Ibrahim Agha. In 1805, he was appointed to be the governor of Jeddah, but as he gained
power and became a threaten for the Ottoman Empire, he was dismissed and sent to Egypt. He
became the governor of Egypt. He stopped the Vehhabi Event. He sent his son Ibrahim Pasha
to Greece and had revealed his loyalty to the Ottoman Empire.
He acted reluctance in sending the city incomes to the government in
1839. This behaviour revealed his desire to declare his independence in Egypt. In 1841,
Beriyetus-Sam, Adana and Jeddah states separated from Egypt. In September 1848, his son
Ibrahim Pasha replaced Mehmed Ali Pasha because of his age and illness. He died in
September-October 1849. |
