Joseph II was born in
Vienna in 1741. He was brought up by a Hungarian trainer. He was against with religion as
a reaction to the extreme religious inspirations done by trainers. He learned a lot of
languages. He took law lessons from Professor Martini, and he accepted the opinions and
thoughts of French philosophers and adopted them as his own. He became the Emperor after
the death of his father. He tried to regulate everything in the country. He usually went
abroad. He made reforms in his country. He limited the competence of Pope. He brought
advanced educated officials instead of regional government representatives and had the
same type of management departments founded in states. He laid down laws for military
reforms in order to provide the foundation of a national army. In this time, Katherine II
the Czarina of Russia incited Joseph II against Ottomans. Joseph II gave up the reforms,
since he was afraid of the riots that could have been in states. Joseph died in 20th
February 1790 after turning back from Turkish Wars as tired. |
