Jan Sobieski was born in Lwow-Olesko, in 1629. His father was Teophila Danilowicz. He had his education and training in Krakow. He became the Commander-in-Chief by his attacks against Tartars and Cossacks in Ukrayna. He had a great talent in military. Ottomans got the advantage of inside riot in Poland and invaded Poland. Sobieski fought against Ottomans by collecting all his military units. But he could not manage and had to sign Bucaþ Agreement with Ottomans. Sobieski violated the agreement after a short time and he beat Ottoman in Hotin, in 17th November 1673. After some time Ottoman took Hotin back. Sobieski joined Selecting Assembly with his 6000 senior soldiers, in 1674. He frightened his opposings and he was selected as the Poland King by the name Jan the Third in 21st May 1674. He started the most beautiful part of his life by having an agreement with Holy Roma Emperor Leopold I, in 31st March 1683. He damaged the second surrounding of Vienna and Hungary had its independence. Jan Sobieski had this triumph by his own directory of Poland Cavalrymen. The triumph was a turning point in the history. But this success of Jan Sobieski did not give anything to Poland. Last twelve years of his reign was an unlucky and disappointed period. He died in Wilanow, in 1696. |
