Hunyadi Yanosh was born in 1388. He was an “Asli Erdel” meaning; the member of an old Transilvanian family. He was known as a national hero by the Hungarians. He was one of the soldiers of King Sigismund. He was successful in the wars against the Bulgarians and the Ottomans. Hungary’s and Poland’s king Vladislas appointed him to be the Prince of Transilvania. He won a few wars against the Ottoman Empire in the province of Belgrade, in the last years Sultan Murad II. Before, Murad II left the throne to his son Sultan Mehmed The Conqueror, he signed Segedin Peace Treaty with Hungary, in 1444. Although two sovereigns had an oath by putting their hands on their own holy books, with the Pope’s propaganda the peace was ruined. The Crusaders, including Hunyadi besieged Varna. But, they were defeated victoriously by the Ottoman Army. After the death of King Vladislav IV, Hunyadi ascended the Hungarian throne, as the king’s son was a child. Hunyadi had died because of an infectious disease, in 1456. |
