Emir Buhari was born in
Bokhara. He was the grandson of Mahmud-ý Fagnevi, the famous Nakþibendi sheikh. After he
finished his education in Bokhara, he joined to Ubeydullah Ahrar’s sect, he was the most
famous philosopher of Samarkant. He met with Abullah-i Ýlahi came from Anatolia. He took
permission from his sheikh to go to Anatolia with Abullah-i Ilahi. He settled in Simav of
Kütahya city, the homeland of Abullah-i Ilahi . After a while he made pilgrimage to
Mecca. In Mescid-i Aksa (Jerrussalem), he made a living by writing books. One year later
he returned to Simav and went to Istanbul with the permission of Abdullah-i Ýlahi. At
firs he joined the Þeyh Vefa Tekke (Dervish lodge). Evrenoszade Achmed Bey invited Emir
Buhari to Vardar. In 1477, Emir Buhari started an act of guiding, and he propagated the
Naksibendi sect in Istanbul. As the Naksibendis increased in Istanbul, Sultan
Bayezid II had had built a mescid (small mosque) and cells for the dervishes on
the western side of the Fatih Mosque. Emir Buhari died in 1516. |
