DAMAT IBRAHIM PASHA

Damat Ýbrahim Pasha was born in Bosnia. In his early ages he was accepted to Enderun (the women’s quarters in the palace) and was grown there. He was appointed to be the governor of Diyarbekir in 1579, Sam in 1581, and Egypt in 1583. He married to Sultana Ayse, in 1584. He was promoted to be the Kaptan-i Derya (Commander of the Navy) and the third vizier, in 1588. Later he was designated as the second vizier. His position had risen as the grand vizier, in 1595. Although he was dismissed from this position, he again was designated for the second time. Damat Ibrahim Pasha, died in a war, in 29th June 1601. He was a very modest, gracious and religious statesman. His tomb is in the Sehzade Mosque, in Istanbul.
