BABA ZUNUN

Baba Zunun was an Alevi (an Islamic Sect) living in Bozok, during the sultanate of Suleyman the Lawgiver. He revolted against the Empire by claiming he had been imposed unfair taxes by a mistake in his prosperity’s stabilisation. In 1526, Baba Zunun with his forces attacked the residence of Bozok governor Mustafa Bey and killed judge Muslihiddin Efendi. He deafeted the Ottoman forces sent against him in Kursunlu. The revolt had been spread to Icel and Tokat and the rebels defeated the governor of Malatya. On 26th September 1516, the Adana Commander Piri caught him. He was judged and executed.
