Arapzade Mehmet Efendi was an Ottoman Seyhulislam. He was born in 1740. After he finished his medrese education, he was appointed to be the Kadi of Fener. In a short while he became the Kadi of Mecca. In 1789 he became the Kadi of Istanbul. In 1795 he appointed to be the Anatolia Kazasker, in 1800 Rumeli Kazasker. After Sultan Selim III dethroned and Mustafa IV was crowned he became the Seyhulislam. His duty took just twenty five confusing days, after Mahmut II was crowned, Arapzade Mehmed Efendi was dismissed. He died in May 14 1826. |
