The army replaced Nizam-I Cedid (New Order). It was organised by Bayraktar Mustafa Pasha, in 1808. He was targeting to improve the army to the European standards. The training was begun in Uskudar barracks. It was defined as the 8^th Corps and it was made an independent corps. It was abolished with the Yeniceri Revolt and the assassination of Mustafa Pasha, in 1808.
